2020 Summer Gala cancelled
Dear Members and Friends of St. John in the Wilderness,
We hope you are safe and well. We were looking forward to St. John’s annual Summer Gala on a Saturday evening in July. We were planning a special evening in this beautiful setting with good company, wonderful music, and delicious food and drink. This is an event that brings the community together and benefits St. John in the Wilderness and its programs for the people of the Roe Jan area.
We know however that life has been upended for this community and for the world by Covid-19. So we have canceled the Gala this year. This is a difficult time. We are praying for you and your loved ones. We have continued to keep the congregation going with meetings and worship by Zoom. And we are reaching out and caring for each other and the wider community even when we can’t do it in person. For example, carefully prepared home-cooked meals are being brought to any who need them.
We look forward to a joyful Summer Gala next year as we celebrate all the good things in life with a renewed appreciation.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support of St. John in the Wilderness and this community.
On behalf of the Gala Committee, the Vestry, and St. John in the Wilderness,
Blessings to you and yours,
The Rev. John Thompson, Rector Church of St. John in the Wilderness Copake Falls, New York
