As featured prominently in this issue of A Voice, the exciting 2022 fundraising event for St John in the Wilderness, titled “Community Harvest Festival,” is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 5:00-7:30pm. Tickets can be obtained on St John’s website.

Thanks very much to those who have envisioned this event and are working hard to make it a wonderful occasion for St John’s and the surrounding community in Copake Falls.

Specifically, I wish to acknowledge Jim and Patricia Wann and Marjorie Hoog for overall event organizing and planning, music to be performed by Jim Wann and Friends, silent auction organized by Patricia Wann, Dale and Louise Peterson for invitations, menu planning by Wendy Langlois and her team, Richard Peck for the beautiful artwork on the event’s invitation, and Father John for event publicity and inspiring us all to work to support our amazing and cherished church. I hope to see you all on September 17th at St John’s Community Harvest Festival!

As I have done previously in this column, I want to highlight the engagement of Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) in addressing the human suffering caused by the war in Ukraine. In ERD’s Summer 2022 issue of Seek & Serve, President and CEO Robert W. Radtke’s column is devoted to the Ukrainian tragedy, particularly to an unforeseen consequence of the war – that some of the world’s poorest countries in Africa and the Middle East are facing grain shortages because Ukraine is a major exporter of grains to these regions. The column concludes as follows:

“Let us not abandon the necessary work we do together through Episcopal Relief & Development. Let us pray for all those who are impacted by this war – wherever they live—and let us do whatever we can to ease their suffering. Thank you for your continued generosity.”

One can make a donation online to the ERD’s Ukraine Response Relief Fund, or by check, noting “Ukraine Response Relief Fund” in the memo line, to: Episcopal Relief & Development, P.O. Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058.
