Rest in Peace, Kent

Dr. Kent. T. Kay, DVM, passed away at 89 from complications of dementia in Minnetonka, MN. He grew up in New York City but dreamed of living in the country and purchased a veterinary practice in Millerton, NY, serving the surrounding dairy farms in 1965. His wife Marilyn was the office manager for the practice and they raised four sons, who grew up in a lively household surrounded by animals, both large and small.

In addition to his professional work, Dr. Kay helped develop a regional Rail to Trails path. He and Marilyn were long-term members of the Church of St. John In The Wilderness where they sang in the choir until recently, and Dr. Kay was also involved in getting the church listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dr. Kay is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn, and sons Christopher, Eugene (Jane), Clinton, and daughter-in-law Melanie Kay of Millerton, wife of his son Timothy, who predeceased him in 2019; and five grandchildren. A memorial service was held Saturday June 17, 10:00am., at St. John In the Wilderness. Memorials may be given to St. John In The Wilderness, PO Box 180, Copake Falls, NY, 12517, or to the Animal Humane Society.
